Radio:
Lum and Abner
The Great Gildersleeve
Fibber Magee and Molly
Buelah
Amos and Andy
Our Miss Brooks
Gunsmoke

Luckily one of our radio stations here KIXI runs old-time radio shows and I immediately got hooked after listening.
I love to go to sleep to them.

Possibly my oldest memory was our entire family except Daddy sitting around the fireplace with our old radio playing. Daddy worked at Tyndall AFB and stayed at a boarding house during the week.

We had no electricity. The radio which was huge, ran on a battery about the size of a car batter but it had a paper covering and was some type of carbon inside. I don’t know how long the battery would last but probably not long.

I was only three but remember “Gangbusters” and “Amos and Andy” Mother would hold me and the other 4 kids just sat around the radio.
