The “Storage Wars” lawsuit heatedly continues this week, as Yahoo! TV News reported this Tuesday, March 12, that “Storage Wars” and the A&E Network has won the first round in a legal battle against Dave Hester, who argued in his lawsuit that the popular reality show is actually staged.
In yesterday’s ruling, Judge Michael Johnson took sides with A&E’s “Storage Wars” on several key points, first dismissing Dave Hester’s argument that the Unfair Business Practices was violated by the network.
Johnson similarly agreed with the show in the “Storage Wars” lawsuit for the ruling that any injunction against the TV series would in turn violate the First Amendment rights of A&E.

That show is kinda rigged too! LOL Living abroad and owning props in various countries aint that easy.
You have to be VERY careful, have great insight and never ever trust a realtor! Look upon them as being almost as bad as a South Florida realtor....almost.
At least all the shows on TruTV are tru. It even says so in the channel name. /sarc
We watch Hardcore Pawn sometimes and I will point out how the surprise insane person who is removed by security and leaves screaming and pulling off clothes in the parking lot has a mic pack taped to their back. How big was the surprise if the sound guy had to do that beforehand?
They actually bleeped a word or two in the first episode of DD and the family were very upset about it afterward, because they are very religious & don’t cuss. The producers had bleeped an ordinary word to make it seem like there was profanity.
I think the couples are real, but you can tell the show is scripted. But both shows are fun to watch just to see the locales and what the residences look like.
It’s fun to see how Americans in other countries react when they find out homes aren’t as large as they would like, or *GASP!* there is NO DISHWASHER in the kitchen. On one show yesterday, in Wellington, NZ, the couple found out that older homes don’t have central heating/air conditioning.
And if these couples behave as they do in real life, I’m surprised they are still married or cohabitating. I often wonder if HH ever follows up to see where these homeowners are now. Possibly divorced. Maybe even bankrupt.

We live here in Colombia part time...wife is from here so no probs. Great place and we enjoy our time here. Different of course but to me its a good type of dif.
Yes I know. As soon as I have a look at the “couple” I turn the show off.
In interviews, Jase and Phil (patriarch) have said that they do not cuss. Never have picked it up. No need to. Phil hates foul language and raised his kids that way so it never became habit.
That entire show I have heard one bleep.
I think when they say ‘unscripted’ they mean not reading from a script. I do believe they stage whatever situation they are in and say ‘go with it’.
How many of those folks are primarily focused on God first then life second? You may be surprised if you read up on the history of the family father being an elder in the church and baptizing a couple hundred people down at the river.
HH International is also great for promoting a destination that most Americans would never consider. After seeing the show a couple years ago where a couple from Chicago bought an ocean front condo in Ecuador for $150K, I went searching the internet and websites offering that location. I was just dreaming. However, I am sure that many Americans ended up buying a house/condo there just because they saw it on that show. It sure is a lot cheaper than any other Latin America location. Especially in comparison to Costa Rica or Panama.
Well, you have to look and look when you are in the market for a roof over your head, when you are abroad.
Finding central heat can be challenging....it’s amazing what luxuries we take for granted. :)
Wow, do you mean that the guys on Pawn Stars do not know everything about every obscure object that is brought into their shop? Also, they do not have a buddy that comes over at the drop of a hat to inspect the Picasso painting that someone came into to pawn(Monday nights show).
That painting/lithograph turned out to be one of two that Pablo created and was valued at $100k. They gave him a short term loan/pawn(I think $20k) with the artwork as collateral. He stated that he would definetly be back to get it by the end of the month.
In the Dominican Republic, properties with values below the threshold amount of $150K are not taxed.
There is a VERY long contract one must sign to appear on a “reality” show. My daughter was a finalist on Nashville Star a few years back and I had her entertainment attorney scrutinize theirs. Non-disclosure, etc. I knew it wasn’t real when Miley Cyrus’ boyfriend at the time was brought in last minute without auditioning like the others had to.
In Florence, the hotel, which catered to American tourists, had a breakfast buffet which was not included in the hotel room package. In my tour group, there was a family from Nebraska who pi**ed and moaned because cereal and milk cost about $5.00. I couldn’t make them understand that their corn flakes had to be imported. It’s not a staple of the average Italian’s diet.
If you’re going to travel to or live in a foreign country, you have to do some homework.
well said. I eat...and eat three squares a day here..usually we eat out due to the low cost..and its easier and fun. I’ll have the bandera paisa...kind of like the daily special. Good size breakfast, steak, eggs, rice, beans veggies of some sort, fruit, real squeezed juice, plantains...all for about $2.50. Variations for lunch and the cost is a bit more. Dinner mostly is fish,chicken, pork or steak and a small salad. Fresh juice is squeezed when ya order! Beer is between .75 to 1.50. Wine is expensive as is liquor.

True. I've also heard you can predict the house they will pick on House Hunters almost all of the time because it will be the unfurnished one. The other two are picked by producers & buyers get to play act like they are interested.
(This applies to the U.S. House Hunters & I'm thinking might be different in the International version since those are often sold furnished).

There were allegations that HH is “staged” as well. At least one participant claimed that they had to have a contract to buy before the show would do the episode, and that two of the “prospective homes” were never really in the picture...
