In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

indite \in-DAHYT\, verb
1. to compose or write, as a poem.
2. to treat in a literary composition.
3. Obsolete. to dictate.
4. Obsolete. to prescribe.

Example sentences:
"Will it be any harm," he said to his friends, "in a piece you want to be written so low, if we should teach them how they should think and act in common cases, as well as indite?"
-- Samuel Richardson, A Quiet Corner in a Library, 1915

And then she called her father Sir Barnard and her brother Sir Tirry, and heartily she prayed her father that her brother might write a letter like as she did indite; and so her father granted her.
-- Sir Thomas Malory, Le Morte D'arthur, 1470

Etymology:
Appearing in English in the mid-1300s, this wordy word comes from the Latin root dictare meaning "to declare, dictate, or compose in words." Combined with the prefix in-, indite literally means "to put down in writing."

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Computer printers have been designed to “print” everything from plastic assemblies and human body parts to edible objects such as cookies.

Also, speech to text programs allow one to dictate directly to the computer and have it recognize and respond to the words.

So I’m looking forward to the opportunity to indite a ham sandwich.

Mark Sanford, former love-struck Governor of SC, nearly was indicted for what he indited to his South American lover. Yes, I know they SAID it was because he did not leave a note when he took off to “hike the Appalachian Trail”, but it really was all about those emails.

Thank you. It looks like a Pope ribbon.

The only thing marring the election of Pope Francis is that Obama is sending Joe Biden to welcome Francis. I sincerely hope that Francis denies Joe communion, as he has to others who facilitated abortion in South America.

He would have been better off sending a real Catholic and not a CINO.

Santa Maria Maggiore was the very first place xsbaby and i went in Rome 4.5 years ago when we went to visit xsteen on her semester there. xsbaby and i arrived on Sunday early afternoon, took a short nap, and asked at the hotel desk where we might find a 5 pm Mass. Santa Maria Maggiore was right around the corner. The Mass we attended was being said in LITHUANIAN for a group of Lithuanian pilgrims. it was very very cool. It was so nice to hear that was where our new Pope went on his very first day as Pope.

Pope Francis took the bishops bus home from the conclave instead of a limo. I am very happy with him. I think he's going to be good. He denounced gay marriage, has come out against pro-abort politicians being given communion. yes, he's a social justice Catholic, but those libs Catholics in the US who are celebrating that will, i think, find out that social justice is defined quite differently by those outside the US.

Executive Orders, “O” doth indite
Constitution? Forget it! He might
Override all the rules
If we let him, we’re fools
Gave him Carte Blanche because he’s not white
