Anything left laying around unattended will disappear.
An expensive sticker on a licence plate would disappear.
If the sicker wouldn't peel the whole plate would be removed.
This is why we have it inside the windshield.
I gave up on locking nuts for the cars wheels and put steel wheels on it, the alloys kept being stolen.

I had an experience once with someone stealing my entire rear plate, the one with the expiration sticker on it. Luckily for me, I was a month away from a new registration, so I only had to pay for a month. My co-worker had her plate stolen a week later, in the same lot. She had just registered her car, so she had to pay it all over again. The parking lot was across the street from the downtown Metropolitan Police Station.

A year later, I was pulled over for insurance lapse and the cop took a screwdriver and tried to undo the screws. HAHAHAHA! I super-glued them on the plate when I got the replacement.

His remedy? He wrote me a ticket for $1200! This was in ‘96, and that was a LOT of money! I explained the situation to the city manager, and he threw the ticket out and refunded the $100 I had already paid.

The next vehicle I got, I got specialized screws for. This time I will do the same, but to prevent someone from trying to take the sticker, I will score it on the diagonal.
