which is it ... the shotgun or the handgun ?

The story is weird but then ... the guy did this a few years ago ...

and he was let loose ?

Why didn’t the fool just ventilate his head with the handgun in the first place?

I also didn’t think that a clerk would hand you both ammo and a gun at the same time. Though it doesn’t matter in this case because the perp was already armed.

He’s smart though because if this was a mom and pop gun store chances are he would have been blown away.

Something very similar happened at the Galyans (now Dick’s) here in Indianapolis five or six years ago.

A local guy who was going to be arrested for child molestation came into the Galyans at the local mall and asked to see a shotgun. The clerk (a guy I know who shoots at my range) handed him the shotgun and begain talking to other people at the counter.

After a while, the clerk asked the guy to hand over the shotgun and the guy kept stalling, then the guy ran behind a stack of ammo cases and jacked a round into the chamber and offed himself. Good riddance.

It might have been a toy handgun and he needed a real one to do the job. After his 2002 confrontation, he might not have had access to a real gun of hs own.

Ammo was stacked there within reach, pulled the revolver as soon as the clerk handed him the shotgun.

Thank God they got everyone out.

I was never gun person, but I have a dozen now.

Welcome home.(grin)

Most mom and pops around here will ask you for a pistol permit to look at anything. With that they assume you have been vetted. I don’t necessarily agree with that policy but I can see where they are coming from and its their store after all.

The Dick’s around here have shotgun ammunition out on the floor, not behind the counter.

RWI, that’s what bothers me at Meirs handgun ammo is locked up behind glass doors and all the shotgun and rifle ammo if above it on shelves in the open. And I got their last box of 30-06.

Self administered death penalty. I love it! That’s one less 24 carat loser we have to deal with.

I had a hard time finding 30-06 brass. I just purchased a Ruger American, and can’t wait to shoot it. I just got to find some rifle powder now, and more primers.

But, but a background check and more restrictions should have prevented this, right?

Were it not so far away I’d go to see if I can get a deal on a barely used shotgun and discounted open box ammo.
