I used to read about the great emperors of various civilizations. In the era of greatness and effectiveness, the emperors held their kids to high standards. If they fail they were punished or disowned. In the era where the dynasties became corrupt and ineffective, leaders would set one standard for the people and make allowances for their children. The US leadership is in the later phase. Say one thing and once their family is involve, they relent. a nation cannot achieve greatness if their leaders are not consistent with their standards and apply it to all including own family.
Portmann is toast. His dynasty as a Senator is over. The Republican God Fearing “In God We Trust” Hoosiers (Indiana) will put a fork in Portmann and he will end his days as a Senator and fade away never to be heard from again. Indiana Conservatives do not care for a sell out.
Isn’t it amazing how the Republican party has embraced compromise and selling out instead of standing firm. If that were the case on our founding fathers, we would all be British subjects. Dear Representative, we ARE NOT ALL God’s children. The bible does not teach that. You are only God’s child when you come to the father, admit your sin and receive his free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. So because you probably are not a Christian, you are not really changing your stripes. You are just really making them clearer for all to see.
I thought Portman was from Ohio.
"I am the LORD, I change not." - Malachi 3:6
Theology of glory from Portman. Beyond flawed.
The Hoosiers can do all they want; it’s really a matter for the Buckeyes.
forget it, he’s on a roll
All homosexual cultures were brutal-—like the Samurai—the Bolsheviks, the Spartans, the Nazi Brownshirts/Hitler, Afghanis today and since all of their history, and most serial killers were sodomites and were sodomized as boys—like Manson and Gacy.
They practice mutual group masturbation or rape-—it is a using of other human beings as a “means to an end”-—it is Marxist at its core-—”radical egalitarianism” where women and men are interchangeable. It is totally irrational and evil and ejects “the laws of nature and nature’s God”—the foundational principles of our Constitution (Universal Truths). It is a promotion of Vice (sodomy) which is unconstitutional, since Just Laws can never promote evil and that which goes against Fixed Natural Laws—basis of our legal system.
All homosexual cultures endorses pederasty and child sacrifice and it is sexist-—women are second class citizens. Homosexuals are fixated in their latency period-—virtually idolators who reject maturity. It is why homosexuals are more likely to beat their “spouse”, run them over, way more promiscuous, and kill them-—they are immature—and full of anger at God. “Mocking God” is why they use their bodies in such degrading, dehumanizing ways—it is the Rite in all Occultism/Pagan religions.
There is no “Right” to sodomize anyone-—that “right” only comes from Satan and US Rights come from God.
Fr. Oko’s Report below explains how evil homosexuals are to any organization and how they are destroying the Catholic Church-—and Bella Dodd’s book about the Marxist homosexual infiltration in the 30’s and 40’s validates Fr. Oko-— Evil Sodom and Gomorrah is always the norm with such warped, evil worldview of human sexuality which excludes half of the human race and is idolatry and such a dehumanizing use of body parts. Extremely evil.

Portman wants happiness for his gay son, but unfortunately, he will find his son is anything but happy.
I have met many homosexuals and they carry great burdens - of disease, addiction, promiscuity, depression and violence. I have never seen a “stable” or long-term homosexual relationship. They may exist, but I have never seen one.
Portman is greatly conflicted, but his reversal on his position will not improve one bit the consequences his son will face.
Portman is still in his first or second term as a senator from Ohio..... hardly a dynasty.
Most Reps like him because he was budget director under Bush I think, and smarter than a whip.
The United Methodist Church does not condone the practice of homosexuality and considers this practice incompatible with Christian teaching.
This has been official policy since 1972. Individual pastors, churches, and denominational leadership have pushed and spoken as though the denomination supports it, but officially UMC does not.
Just for the record....
As was shown so clearly in this past week's Gospel at Mass, and the woman 'caught in adultery', Jesus said "let he among you who is without sin cast the first stone", pointing out they hypocrisy of the men ready to stone her. He also told the woman that He would not condemn her either, but that she was to "go and sin no more".
Yes, God forgives, but He expects that we will no longer commit the sin for which He has forgiven us, or at least make the effort not to do so again. We are not to expect His forgiveness and blithely continue our sinfulness.
I’ll stick with The Prodigal Son, it matches my experience.
” Mr Portman, we have pictures of your son that you would not want people to see...”
Too sadly true. He seems to only want his son's happiness, and believes that accepting his son's chosen lifestyle will bring that about. But he doesn't understand that his son's rejection of the life God made him for will only bring him grief and pain.
My view of homosexuality has evolved over the years. When I was young and foolish I believed it was ok. I now believe, even if you don't believe in G-d, you should never teach young people that it's ok. As you've noted the lifestyle has many problems and young people are too easily led down the wrong path. Unfortunately Mr. Portman, according to my belief, has condemned both he and his son, and countless others, to a punishment that brings tears to my eyes. Had he been strong enough to stand by the law of G-d his son may have come around when he matured. Now, I fear, he will get too deep into the homosexual lifestyle to get out.
I am like you. At first I didn't care - I accepted the common argument that it doesn't matter who you "love." Then, in college and beyond, I started to meet many homosexuals, see how they lived. A graduate classmate of mine, who was really quite brilliant in his area of study and whose intellect I admired, was gay. He told me shocking stories of his and others behavior and what "the lifestyle" was all about. He tried to commit suicide 3 times. It opened my eyes and after time, I realized that he was actually quite typical.
