I’m convinced dogs recognize “their own kind”.

I saw the movie a few years back. At least most people don’t play “dress up” with working breeds they way they do with “toy” breeds. (Some folks take the ‘toy’ descriptor too literally.)

One of the rarest things you’ll ever see is an “Ibizan mix”.

They simply do not recognize other breeds of dogs as dogs, apparently.

I have had ‘sets’ of both breeds in the house many times and without fail, the Ibizans just ignored the Dobes’ very existence.

Wouldn’t even look at them, let alone interact.

Odin is the first Dobe they ever acknowledged and I think that was only because Gypsy, the Portuguese Podengo Medio ‘raised him as her own’ and he is now “bilingual”.

PPMs are derived from Ibizans with some kind of small, ancient rabbit hound mixed in thousands of years ago.

She was an interpreter, of sorts and my Ibizans all accepted him as one of their own.

Judging by how he interacts with ‘Halla, I suspect he’s more fluent in Ibizan than his own native language.

She knows what he is but he’s puzzled by her.
