Based on your logic, a long list of items should be banned, starting with dodge ball, alcohol, movies, cars, kitchen cleaning products, & virtually all outdoor activities - just to protect us from ourselves mostly, but also from lunatics.
Banning nonviolent activities because of possible adverse effects on unstable people is the height of Nanny Statism. It assumes that reasonable people should endlessly sacrifice the quality of their lives to “prevent” essentially, rare, random events - bad things - from happening. The result is always tyranny.
Killing aliens, Nazis, Zombies or even grandmothers pushing a baby carriage on a video screen is not real, it is make believe, just as is hitting a punching bag while cursing your boss. It relieves stress. Shall we ban punching bags?
I have war gamed since my first set of army men decades ago. You will have to pry my “Call of Duty” from my cold, dead hands, or failing that, I will work diligently to see that your favorite activities are banned, too. Then we can both be a little more miserable & a little less free.
Sir, you have been bitten by the Nanny bug. I suggest you walk through nearest crime ridden neighborhood, unarmed, to clear your head. Nothing like a good mugging to cure Nanniosis.
