'The Walking Dead' season 4: Comic book creator Robert Kirkman discusses what's ahead
CSM ^ | April 2, 2013 | Kevin Yeoman

"There’s some really, really cool and big stuff that people have been expecting, ... from the comics, that will work into Season 4. To give a hint, I will say that we do have Tyreese and Rick, who are now united, which is a big moment for the comic book fans...It’s going to be different in a lot of ways. We’ll see a very different Rick Grimes for one. His experiences against the Governor and with the various things that happened to him in season three are informing his character in huge ways..Carl has adopted a far more ruthless, kill-or-be-killed type of mentality. As evidenced by his merciless killing of a young man who appeared to have been surrendering, Carl’s shift into that of a child soldier has now yielded some negative results, and the youngster may soon find himself at an ideological crossroads with his father...And while the comic creator acknowledges the next season’s storyline will begin at the prison, there’s no guarantee that is where it will end."

This season was kind of a let down. Better then last season though.

Yeah, I have to agree. The third season, especially the 2nd half was very weak. They did not need eight episodes to cover the territory they covered in the 2nd half of season 3. Hopefully, it will pick up next season.

This season was kind of a let down.

Out of curiosity what were you looking for? Other than dragging out the story I liked it.

What kind of letdown? That Rick didn’t turn into a zombie?

Parts of it were good. Maybe because the zombie killing has gotten routine.

I don’t see how they can get used to the gore. I wouldn’t have much of an apetite. LOL

I’m hoping Rick will show a little more humor.

Merle made a lousy zombie.

I think Carl made the right choice. Put the gun down quick or you are gonna get it.

He sure wasn’t around too long, though. I agree. he was one

good character when alive. I kind of felt bad when he

turned. And it was really bad when Daryl had to kill him.

One of the producers (Gale Anne Hurd) has been quoted as saying that the survivors have become a bit too complacent with regard to the walkers, so I think that the show’s writers are planning to step up the walker threat.

Heck yes I am however it is not until October. Not sure what I will do during this time except now I got hooked on Revolution. I swear that show has its governor too LOL.

Also I am not sure if anyone notice but there seems to be a little subliminal message in regards to Religion and God all the time.

Like in the first episode I think after Sophia had disappeared they winded up at a church due to the bell ringing. You see Carol praying and Rick even though he didn’t believe he asked God for guidance.

Also I recall Hershel telling Merl to cast off his bad/mean ways (the right hand) to save Daryl (the body) from getting thrown out of the group. (into hell) ??
Could the quote plant an idea in Merl to scheme to get close enough to the Gov (right hand) to kill him but only by sacrificing himself to save the Daryl and the others??

Matthew 5:30:
“And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell.”

Also in the finale we see a split second of a bible verse when the governor picked up the bible in prison with the following:

The Bible verse is John 5:29.

“And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, until the resurrection of damnation.”

The end of the finale OMG they showed a cross with a beautiful sunshine in the background among the grass.

I am glad they showed some respect to toward religion. I know if a bunch of zombies did rise we would see alot of praying and fighting.

Yes. It is just like the book, not plot-wise necessarily, but in tone. It isn’t meant to be zombie-slasher-gore-fest. The Zombie Apocalypse is just the setting for a great tale. The zombie killing does get routine for the most part in the book. They have had enough experience with it, they can handle the walkers fairly easily. It is the people you have to look out for.

I think Carl did the right thing. I think he saved himself, Hershel and Beth. The guy was told to put his gun down and he said no I’ll hand it to you or something like that and kept advancing on a kid, a petite girl and an old guy with one leg. I just worry that Carl will feel he has to protect the group from all outsiders, including good people that came in on the bus. He’s a kid, I’m sure killing, even when necessary, will effect him. I’m looking forward to season 4 and hope Carl doesn’t kill a “good guy” by mistake because he thinks all outsiders are bad, or that he has to be “stopped” from killing innocent people because he’s lost his judgment.
