I agree with all your assessments. Which is why I simply reported Ebert’s demise, without embellishment.

For a lefty, he was probably rich.

According to TMZ:

“According to the Sun-Times, Ebert was an early investor in Google — and more than likely made a fortune because of it. “

So another hypocrite in the 1%????????

There was a time when I would check what thought about a film and act accordingly (that is, do the opposite, which usually worked out). Ebert was also indirectly responsible for me getting two columns published in the New York Daily News. Back in the late 80s/early 90s, the News had a Counterpunch (talk back to the critics) column in the Sunday paper. Two of the columns I had published were rebuttals to his columns. (The News carried him for a time.)

I preferred Ebert's TV show. I enjoyed the clips back in the days when that was the only place you could find them.

Roger wrote THREE filmed movies for Russ Meyer and the script for Who Killed Bambi. I read that one once. I think I could distinguish between the Russ bits (who served in WWII and wished to this day he could be out killing Nazis, filming it, and whoring it up with Ernest Hemmingway), the Roger Ebert bits, and the euro-socialist-counter-moralist rhetoric of Malcolm.

Don’t know which revision mine is. The filmed clip of Sting in the car with Paul Cook isn’t in my script.

I liked Siskel and Ebert’s DOG OF THE WEEK. SOrt of a weekly dose of Michael Medved’s Golden Turkey Awards (which he compiled with his brother).

Let you know the weirdest at least commercially available cult film. I think John Waters’ Polyester (filmed in Odorama) made that cut. At least Rex Reed was able to get HIS pans of John Waters films on the poster (see Female Trouble).

Am I the only one who is thinking ‘no great loss’?

I'm wondering if we'll be seeing an obit for the top Yelp! food critic or pitchfork music reviewer in the next 20 years.

I hope you can toss Free throws better than Obama. 2 out of 20 is pretty bad .

I average about 70%, but that's without game pressure, since we play pick-up games without refs. I try to end each session with at least 20 free throws and don't leave until I've hit 5 straight. My favored attack is baseline cut, catch and reverse layup, right or left. Not a good ball handler so I don't drive much. Set a lot of picks & screens and get a good number of assists.

Love the game, been striving for adequate for years!

Even Dwight Howard can do better than that.
