Democratic Rep. Diana DeGette is drawing national criticism for remarks made at a forum Wednesday in which she said banning high-capacity in ammunition magazines would be effective in reducing gun violence because "the bullets will have been shot and there won't be any more available." Despite the congresswoman's claim, ammunition magazines can be reloaded with more bullets and can be reused hundreds of times. (VIDE0)

Maybe if someone compared bullets in a magazine (sic) to words in her brain.

When she has said them all ...

But wait, evidence is that her brain is already empty.

That was my take hearing her original remark.

But everybody else was mocking her for her ignorance of re-loadable ‘magazines’, so I figured others were smarter than me.......

Unfortunately I have had to suffer through Governor Dick Lamb who said “Old folks have a duty to duty” and Pat Schroder who wanted to fire cattle guards and now dummy DeGette who's bleeding heart has overcome intelligence. Bill Klinton’s assault riffle bill did not save one person at Columbine. There is not one article about criminals and guns in the new trash bill. They could care less that they are violating our Civil Rights. Having to pay for background checks is like the Democrats charging poll tax in the south to keep blacks form voting.

Did she contact the manufacturers of these “magazines” and obtain a users manual for these devices?

“the bullets will have been shot and there won’t be any more available.”

Her ‘premise’ may be wrong, but her conclusion has another explanation that ‘our’ government is not telling the public.

The “there won’t be any more available” is coming true, regardless to the illogical reasoning she made.

Here’s what a Maryland lawmaker had to say about assault weapons, “Other than target shooting, the only other reason [for a semi-automic firearm] would be for self-defense… [Why would you need a] rifle that accommodates 20 rounds semi-automatic for deer hunting? … It’s only very infrequently that someone commits a crime with an assault weapon – why do you need one for self-defense?”

“Cant they just ban murder and be done with it?”

:)

The Proper Function of the Law

And, in all sincerity, can anything more than the absence of plunder be required of the law? Can the law — which necessarily requires the use of force — rationally be used for anything except protecting the rights of everyone? I defy anyone to extend it beyond this purpose without perverting it and, consequently, turning might against right. This is the most fatal and most illogical social perversion that can possibly be imagined. It must be admitted that the true solution — so long searched for in the area of social relationships — is contained in these simple words: Law is organized justice.

Now this must be said: When justice is organized by law — that is, by force — this excludes the idea of using law (force) to organize any human activity whatever, whether it be labor, charity, agriculture, commerce, industry, education, art, or religion. The organizing by law of any one of these would inevitably destroy the essential organization — justice. For truly, how can we imagine force being used against the liberty of citizens without it also being used against justice, and thus acting against its proper purpose?

Law Is Force

Since the law organizes justice, the socialists ask why the law should not also organize labor, education, and religion.

Why should not law be used for these purposes? Because it could not organize labor, education, and religion without destroying justice. We must remember that law is force, and that, consequently, the proper functions of the law cannot lawfully extend beyond the proper functions of force.

When law and force keep a person within the bounds of justice, they impose nothing but a mere negation. They oblige him only to abstain from harming others. They violate neither his personality, his liberty, nor his property. They safeguard all of these. They are defensive; they defend equally the rights of all.

Property and Plunder

...combined with the fatal tendency that exists in the heart of man to satisfy his wants with the least possible effort, explains the almost universal perversion of the law. Thus it is easy to understand how law, instead of checking injustice, becomes the invincible weapon of injustice. It is easy to understand why the law is used by the legislator to destroy in varying degrees among the rest of the people, their personal independence by slavery, their liberty by oppression, and their property by plunder. This is done for the benefit of the person who makes the law, and in proportion to the power that he holds.

The Law - Bastiat
