Carhart Getting Away With Killing Woman in Botched 33-Week Abortion
life news ^ | Jill Stanek

Posted on 04/10/2013 6:43:51 AM PDT by Morgana

On February 7, 29-yr-old Jennifer Morbelli, pictured right, died at a Maryland hospital the morning after LeRoy Carhart completed the abortion of her 33-wk-old baby in the Germantown, Maryland, mill at which he worked.

Ironically, the day before Morbelli died the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene issued licenses to all 17 abortion clinics in the state without ever having inspected them, even though abortion clinic regulations had been enacted in November 2012.

Carhart’s clinic is still operating, but on March 12 DHMH suspended the licenses of three other clinics associated with infamous late-term abortionist Steven Chase Brigham. According to the Baltimore Sun:

Health Secretary Joshua M. Sharfstein said the department is proceeding on the schedule it originally proposed, which called for issuing licenses in early 2013, followed by inspections. He said the system is working as it should…..

Sharfstein said the others [clinics] had no safety issues that would require a shutdown.

Dr. Sharfstein’s system is obviously backward, but this should come as no surprise, since he is a committed abortion proponent who even supports taxpayer funded abortions. Note Sharfstein determined not to shut down Carhart’s mill, even though Carhart had lied on his Maryland license application and had a patient die.

1198-1-4841bSharfstein, pictured left, was appointed to his current position in January 2011 by pro-abortion Democrat Governor Martin O’Malley. Before that, Obama pegged Sharfstein as the Principal Deputy Commissioner of the FDA.

Before that is when Sharfstein’s dots to Carhart connect.

From 2001 through 2005 Sharfstein served as health policy adviser to virulent pro-abortion Congressman Henry Waxman. He also served as minority professional staff of the Oversight & Government Reform Committee, where Waxman was ranking member.

Between 1995 and 2003 Waxman voted against Partial Birth Abortion Ban legislation six times, the last two of which came during Sharfstein’s tenure (June and October 2003). It seems obvious Waxman would not have brought a health policy advisor on board who didn’t agree with him on the merits of partial birth abortion.

The PBA Ban was finally signed into law by President George W. Bush on November 5, 2003, but was immediately challenged by Carhart and two others. Carhart had prevailed against a previous PBA ban at the U.S. Supreme Court level in 2000. At that time Waxman went so far as to sign an amicus brief in support of Carhart. The Supremes agreed to hear Carhart’s new case, but this time Carhart lost in 2007.

That Sharfstein carries an affinity for Carhart is speculative, but a friend who worked across the aisle from Sharfstein on the Hill is confident there is a there there.

Furthermore, my friend has an additional theory worth posting:

So Josh is shutting down a few rogue clinics in Maryland. You better believe this is part of a bigger strategy on his part. He’s tight with the Planned Parenthood ladies. They don’t really like their competitors, right? So he snips around the edges a bit… tries to take the heat off the pretty kindergarten lady killed at a clinic his people gave a license to. I feel like it’s one of those “don’t look over here, everything is just fine over here” moments that always made me want to look over there…

Following that line of thinking, when in April 2011 Maryland legislators halted legislation to enact abortion clinic regulations on Sharfstein’s promise to come up with his own, Gazette.net reported:

Planned Parenthood opposed the bill but supports the department’s plan to develop regulations. “We have been talking to the department of health for the last few years regarding regulations,” said John Nugent, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Maryland.

Of course, anyone Planned Parenthood trusts is not to be trusted.

Furthermore, a family planning brochure published by Sharfstein’s DHMH lists both the phone number and web address of Planned Parenthood of Maryland as a contact for family planning services.

This looks like another “fox guarding the hen house” scenarios we see so often when it comes to abortion. In this case a late-term abortionist has a friend in a well-placed position who is also a friend to Planned Parenthood.

Jill Stanek has a point (as always) Dr. Kermit Gosnell is on trail for this but LeRoy Carhart is getting off scott free? What gives?

33 weeks? Was this woman a moron or something? Didn’t realize she was pregnant until 8 months later? Or suddenly said “Oh you know what, I thought I wanted to have this kid, but pretty soon it’s going to be born so um, let me kill it” Sorry she died but please, she’s just as much a cold hearted killer as this doctor. Only karma came calling big time on her.

His judgement may be postponed but it’s still coming.

Her baby was judged ‘defective’ via an ultrasound. So her loving ‘mommy’ decided to kill her.

Her baby was diagnosed in utero with a severe congenital defect. According to other articles I’ve read, the child was very much wanted & Mrs Morbelli’s baby registry still appeared online after her death.

The blame her lies with the physicians. This woman was emotionally vulnerable & was acting upon the advice of her physician. To label the mother as a cold-hearted killer is a bit harsh. I understand where you’re coming from but the reality is this woman & her husband received a devastating diagnosis and were referred to Cahart. Her OB should’ve, instead, discussed perinatal hospice with them. The pressure put on these women to abort is phenomenal.

I have my doubts that it was “mommy’s” choice. She came to that clinic with her husband and parents. That tells me it was their decision and they wanted to make sure she got that abortion. She did not even know the baby had a birth defect until two weeks prior. Even with that knowledge she did not remove the child from a baby registry. I honestly believe her family talked her into this, telling her over and over “we cant handle a special needs child” or “these children are too expensive” what ever. Either way cost or time it was the stigma the family did not want.

Unless there was a gun involved, it was her choice. SHE alone signed the medical consent forms.

Any husband of mine that asked me to kill my child wouldn’t get a signed medical consent form as a reward. He’d get divorce papers from the biggest ball busting divorce attorney I could find.

If he could kill a defenseless child for being imperfect and inconvenient. He could just as easily ‘Terry Schiavo’ a wife. Best not be his wife!

Part of it was the doctor but I have to think the family played a role in this too. All of them came down from New York so she could get an abortion? Yea that tells me that they wanted to make sure she laid on that table and got it.

“Any husband of mine that asked me to kill my child wouldn’t get a signed medical consent form as a reward.”

There are women out there coerced by their husbands/families. Sometimes even by their churches! I know in this day and age it is hard to believe. If you ever get the chance read this book. I found it quite interesting. http://www.amazon.com/Abortion-Choice-Grace-Christian-Stories/dp/0932727697/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1365604859&sr=8-1&keywords=abortion+a+womans+choice+gods+grace

Wow, my daughter was born at 28 weeks.

Rough start, but she was/is a national merit finalist, was in the 99% on SAT and ACT, Valictorian of her school, 3 times state track athlete, and currently with a 3.8 in the honors engineering program at Texas AM.

Had boys following her around like puppies since age 12 — half Scot Irish (me)/half Mescalero Apache (mom) makes for a pretty attractive female.

She is now seriously dating a Jewish boy, which is breaking her Roman Catholic mom’s heart, but he’s pretty solid in my book.

33 weeks. Geesh.

If she were 16 I might buy that.

At 30 she had an education and a job independent of her family or her husband. IIRC she was a school teacher.

And yes, the baby was wanted. Until she found out it wasn’t perfect.

The reason the name was still on the baby registry IMHO was the ‘tragedy’ of the baby’s death wasn’t going to be explained other than ‘something horrible happened, and the baby died’. It’s doubtful she’d have owned killing her own baby had her death not outed it for her. The family wasn’t there so much to ‘coerce’ her as to comfort her in her tragic hour of ‘need’.

Actually know someone who aborted their child for ‘cause’. Everyone thought the baby had died in utero. Massive outpouring of sympathy and grief for the woman and her husband. Fast forward 10 years to the ugly divorce. Guess what came out when he was seeking custody? The fact that the abortion was HER idea (cleft palate, fixable heart defects, btw). She decided it’d be easier to just ‘start over from scratch’ than deal with a special baby and all the surgeries. So, she did. It’s WAY more common than you think and only the mother can give consent for this.

Doctors and parents can’t talk you into murdering your baby. Unless in your heart of hearts you already believe that murdering your baby is OK.

I agree.

I have encountered these patients at the women’s hospital I occasionally work at. They’re tearful, emotionally torn, and distraught. But they have physicians & nurses literally telling them they’re doing the right thing by sparing their child a life of pain & suffering. The pressure to abort is tremendous.

I’m not excusing or exhonerating these women - ultimately it’s their decision. But there are extenuating circumstances. It’s very sad. Our society can do better for these women & their unborn children. There are perinatal hospices, but largely they’ve been shut out by these pro-abort docs & patients are generally unaware that such services even exist. I pray God converts this nation. And if these pro-aborts refuse to covert, then may God scatter & confound them.

photo NickChuckBirthday052.jpg photo NickChuckBirthday060.jpg These are my twin sons when they where born at 32 weeks. One week younger than the child that this 'poor woman' chose to kill. I have little to no pity for this kindergarten teacher. How comfortable are you with leaving your five year old with a woman who voluntarily and with malice of forethought pays a man to dismember and murder a child? HER OWN CHILD! Nick and Charlie are perfectly healthy 23 month olds who NEVER even needed to be put on oxygen. They thrived from the minute they where born and only spent four weeks in the NICU in order to fatten them up. These people are sick!

"The blame her lies with the physicians." That is a bunch of BS. There is no excuse for murdering a viable child. I am not just blowing smoke. Our Douglas was diagnosed with numerous birth defects at around 12 weeks. The doctor suggested that we should 'terminate'. Did he ever get an earful! I said he was NEVER to talk about such a thing in my presence again. That everyone deserves a chance in life and the idea that killing to eliminate the 'inferior' was debunked at Nuremberg in the 1940's. He told me he agrees but he IS REQUIRED to discuss termination as an option to avoid law suites. If a child is born with genetic problems, some scum lawyer will sue the doctor for NOT telling the parents to kill it. photo 271jpgsq.jpg Douglas was a great kid. We NEVER regretted giving him every chance in life. We had him for 25 wonderful months. His short difficult life touched hundreds of people in a positive way and made my wife and I, as well as anyone that met him, better people. We believe that he has also blessed us with his twin brothers born less than a year after he died.
