Uh huh. That was my point on a previous thread earlier today & some gracious FReeper said I was full of BS.

We are raising a generation of monstrous doctors. They regard parents of disabled children as cruel, selfish, and inhumane. Their belief is that a child is better off dismembered & tossed aside rather than given a chance at life. Scary stuff. Lord, help us.

Oh I knew you were telling the truth because 9 times out of 10 I posted the article here that said doctors are encouraging abortions for these things. The one in the past that got me the most and is in this one is cleft lip. That is so easy to fix. I have to think the surgery for cleft lip is much cheaper than an abortion. This taking in account all the counseling one will need for years after the abortion.

When my wife was pregnant with our latest addition to the family, the doctor sent us to a specialist because the blood test showed a higher likelihood of Downs Syndrome.
The specialist was negative and very critical of our baby. He wanted us to have him tested in utero to see if he had DS.
I said “well either he does or he doesn't so what's the difference?”
He said “you know when people find out they are advised to consider all options ...”.
I could tell my wife was pissed that he would even suggest abortion so I cut him off and said “we are going to love this baby until the day we die or the day he dies, but we aren't going to murder him- so move on”.

He did shut his mouth and never brought it up again.

Our son Reagan is now 18 months. He has DS, and I wouldn't change a thing about him.
He is such a blessing and delight to us and the other kids.
