He pointed out that some punk rock songs had pro-life messages and (if I remember correctly) criticized the sorry state of Britain’s welfare state. What do you think about this idea?

So he somehow manages to be pro-life and pro-abortion at the same time in the interview. Or, he was trying not to seem pro-life, currying favor from the interviewer, and tap-dancing so as not to offend the intended audience.
I’ll take the song at its face value.
