You are right it is not a joke. Most of the references here are to individual home computers. The company I do consultation for had security patches go out to all of their installed base. Instead of the units rebooting according to a reboot schedule, the patch forced a reboot. Some came back up, some did not. Service calls going out all over the country for “dead” units that failed to boot back up. Cost a fortune.
