Jackie Robinson really was the real deal - what he did really did matter and I have total respect for the man on and off the field. I’m sympathetic to the anti-Hollywood anti-PC sentiment but I like Jackie and I happened to think that the movie rendered a slice of his life in a fairly realistic manner.

I love period pieces and the attention to detail here makes the movie fun - the cars, the clothes, the stuff you find in hotel rooms, locker rooms, offices. I have a pretty strong sense that they didn’t get the lingo of the day right - several times they used words or phrases that I don’t think would have been in use back then - that would have made it even better IMHO.
