In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
chuffed \chuhft\, adjective
1. annoyed; displeased; disgruntled.
2. delighted; pleased; satisfied.
Example sentences:
He was really chuffed about the fire as well, because Mrs Pearson from up the stairs had her washing ruined by the smoke.
-- Irvine Welsh, Marabou Stork Nightmares, 1997
Well, we can discuss that when we get there. Declan will be chuffed when I tell him, the family never usually goes to these things.
-- Cecelia Ahern, P.S. I Love You, 2007
Etymology:
This British term comes from the obsolete chuff meaning "chubby," used in the seventieth to nineteenth centuries. In the 1800s,chuff took on the sense of "pleased." Since the mid-1900s, chuffed has been used to mean both "pleased" or "displeased," depending upon the context.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

WFB's attempt to emulate us ; ) No pushing at the door please!
It makes it so useful, doesn’t it? A for you.
Do you mean Arlen Toomey?
One and the same.
howdy seekie. what didja do with the wet bar?
It is 54, cloudy and windy here-winter is not really over yet-
Obama minions keep on reading
From the same old Nixon book-
Ignoring the storm and scandal
On the legacy of that crook
Now Obama is chuffed again-
At the senators who took note
Of why people sent them there-
And proved it with their vote
When even ‘rat senators listen
And know their party is wrong
They pretend its an awakening,
But they’ve known it all along...
Talk about having the scales fall from their eyes-and as for the rinos who voted for it, I think they knew they were done anyway...
I’m having intermittent server burps, too-it was worse earlier, though.
It smells bad, doesn’t it? Especially with the impending deportation. A+ for you.
A+ for you!
Thank you!
My contractor compadre and I were just talking about when the next job might materialize, and how we were still more fortunate than the contractor we both worked for who absconded with our money, causing most of this chaos in the first place.
We are alive and able to work-the sorry bastard we worked for is dead, and given what we know of the circumstances, he is not likely to rest quietly-I wouldn’t want his karma. I wouldn’t want to visit his old office, and I’m not much bothered by spooks...
Ugh, server errors here keep happening. I’m sorry, I didn’t know you had been cheated by someone.
Thanks-it was a few years ago, but it had quite a ripple effect because the pig literally picked up all the money from the job, which, of course included our pay-then went under, went AWOL and was gone with the money.
There was a girl on Twitter yesterday, a Latina apparently, who was wondering what a pressure cooker was, and if it was some sort of thing that Latinos don’t have in their kitchens, like crockpots.
It never would have occurred to me that crockpots would be strange to a Latino.
I didn’t know people could survive without crockpots.
A twit on twitter? She has apparently been living in an alternate universe (or does not know how to cook at all)-I’ve never used a pressure cooker, but my mom had one she used to cook large batches of beans and other long-cooking stuff for our large Hispanic/Latino family dinners and picnics. And I don’t know anyone who doesn’t have and use a crock pot, except people who either eat out all the time or can afford servants...
I don’t do twitter, fb or any of that-FR sounds much more intelligent as far as subject matter...

It was @missADelgado, who is an editor at Mediaite and a Harvard Law grad.
I don’t know anything else about her bio, it just struck me as weird. I didn’t even know she was Latina until she mentioned it one day. She had blonde hair.
I should find a meatloaf in mine when I get home.
Very moving...
And I think Ryan Miller took the chants of ‘USA’ to heart ;-)
