So what are you listening to? [MUSIC LOVER'S VANITY]
A Love Supreme | April 20th, 2013 | Third Person

It's been a wild week...just wondering, what's been in your steady rotation to help smooth out the rough edges?

Here's my list for the last few days:

Moby Grape/ '69

Sun Ra/ Supersonic Jazz

Haydn/ Symphony No. 98

From speed metal to bubblegum pop... who cares, weigh in!

Very cool about the show and your wife.

I haven’t seen the documentary except for the clip of the song 23 Minutes in Brussels that’s posted on YouTube, which apparently is taken from it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81Sv57rbujA

I just discovered Luna about a year ago and they are great. I actually bought Rendezvous when it originally came out, listened to it once, didn’t get it, and then didn’t listen to it again until sometime last year on a whim. For some reason it clicked this time. Since then I’ve gotten a few others — Pup Tent, Penthouse. They’re cool too but Rendezvous is my favorite, probably because it’s the one that first “imprinted” on me.

In the past few days, I've been listening to a lot of tunes from the 1950's, such as these:

Since I keep a listening log, I can just post my playlist from the last two weeks:

The Byrds - Never Before
Prokofiev - Romeo & Juliet - Maazel
Renbourn - The Black Balloon
Sibelius - Symphony #2 - Schippers
Sibelius - Violin Concerto - Ferras/Karajan
Cream - Disraeli Gears
Cream - Live Vol 2
Prokoffiev - Symphony-Concerto for Cello - Leinsdorf/BSO
Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
Getz/Gilberto
Richard Thompson - Electric
Oldham Tinkers - Sit Thee Down
Prokoffiev - Symphony #6 - Leinsdorf/BSO
Frager - Chopin Recital
Owl Service - Garland of Song
Trees - On the Shore
Trees - Garden of Jane Delawney
The House Band
The House Band - Pacific
Mancini - The Pink Panther
Richard Thompson - Old Kit Bag

It’s not as heavily classical as usual for some reason - maybe spring is in the air?

Every one of their albums are good, each with a different tone. Owning the whole catalog is a good thing. I recommend checking them all out.

Can’t listen to this while I’m driving - about halfway through, the gas pedal starts going down, down, DOWN....

Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Beatles, Lynyrd Skynard, The Allman Bros., The Who, Pink Floyd...

I'd add ELO, The Cars, Aerosmith, Queen, Eagles just to name a few.

But you got the 5 basic food groups right there. But you can rule out the One Hit Wonders either.

Like such as Heavy Metal A or Heavy Metal B
