Do not agree on that one. Even a felon who has served his time is entitled to self defense under our second amendment. Anyone who can not be trusted to be armed should not be running around loose.
The problem is that if the state gets too agressive they can find all sorts of reasons to prevent a person from owning a gun - thanks to the squishy mental illness caveat
There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws.
