I Need Your Prayers and Good Thoughts (Sad Update #206)
Myself | 5-08-2013 | Myself

Posted on 05/08/2013 6:25:18 PM PDT by Nowhere Man

I need some prayers and good thoughts since my mother was just diagnosed with breast cancer and we are just beginning to fight it. She goes for a PET scan tomorrow and also to an oncologist to get meds to shrink the cancer. She also has a good doctor, some friends and acquaintances have the same one and many women have kicked it with her help plus the doctors say, "don't worry, we have many ways to fight it." Many thanks to all.

After chemo, surgery, and radiation I am free of breast cancer. I wish your mom the same results!

I am a cancer survivor (Bladder-Cancer). Surgery and chemo provided the necessary treatment needed to provide a “Cancer-Free” result. I had a follow-up meeting with my doctor today and I am still cancer-free.

I pray for your Mom and your family that treatments provide a “Cancer-Free” result.

May Our Great Physician provide the necessary treatments needed to proclaim your Mom “Cancer-Free”. Bless The Lord, Oh my soul and all that is within me Praise His Holy Name...

We ask Heavenly Father that you zap the cancer cells in Nowhere Man's mother.
And give the family strength as they go through the wilderness
Comfort Nowhere Man and calm his fears.
In Jesus' name, AMEN.

I am so sorry to hear about your Mom, Nowhere Man. Prayers for her health and prayers for you. As the “child” of two parents who endured cancer diagnosis’ and treatment... it can really shake you up as well. Please, please, take care of yourself while you take care of your Mom. I hope I am not sounding “preachy” but there was a time some years back.. that my health was extremely compromised because I was taking care of my Mom. Little to no sleep, stress, not eating right.. can take a toll. Prayers again and good thoughts coming your way. Hugs, Mom

Thanks all, I know some of yuns have sent me private mail, I’ll get to yuns ASAP. Mom is in hospital where they want to put in a pipe/tube for chemo and get her started. She might have a breast tumor the size of an orange to small grapefruit and we are waiting results of a PET scan. I just hope that is all there is. She will be 75 in August. I will keep as brave, strong and tough as I can as well as keep on praying and asking God for His help I’ll be truthful, I’m freakin’ scared, man. Even so, I’m encouraged by stories where people have even beat it at Stages 3 and 4. I just want to know when we start beating this thing back and knowing more. I know nothing in life is guaranteed but to me, failure is not an option.

Well, talked to mom just now. She had to have a tube put in for chemo (sent me home so I get something to eat) and came through OK. The PET scan showed that she has cancer only in her left breast and a little in her right (they did not know about) and none detected beyond that. I'm happy at least it is contained there and I was going to bring up the point of taking both breasts (as one Freeper suggested here) anyhoo but the goal is to shrink it and then go in. I know there are times you want to cut it out right away but that is not the best strategy all the time. She can drive herself to chemo too.

She's a fighter, she'll be 75 in August and BTW, she took this better than me although I'm remaining strong or as strong as I can. I wanted to go see her tonite but she told me to stay home because here in Pittsburgh, we had bad thunderstorms (I got home just before they began this afternoon) and she wanted me to be with the cats. Anyhoo, I feel tired and spaced out so I feel I should not be behind the wheel if I can help it, slept very little and almost fell out of my bed to boot.

I know we might have ups and down as we fight this but at least now I feel I had some weight removed from my burden. I'm glad since my job assignment ended and I have to go back looking for work although if need be, I'll have to work things around Mom.

That is good news, Nowhere Man!

Many oncologists now are treating with chemo before surgery so that they can see if the chemo is effective against the type of tumor the patient has. So, your mother's doctors are doing what many of the top doctors today are doing to fight this type of cancer. BTW, my oncologist said the senior women tend to do better with chemo than the younger women. At my cancer center, the vast majority of patients were senior citizens, and they seemed to be doing very well. And it sounds like your mother is a very strong woman!

Thanks for keeping us updated.

Blessings of the Lord upon you and your mom and family, Nowhere Man. They can do amazing things in treating breast cancer these days.

Chemo is very taxing to the body. If you haven’t already done so, you might consider looking into the various ways it is possible to give her body nutritional support while she undergoes the process. The book, “Prescriptions for Nutritional Healing” by Balch IMHO is a good place to start.
