Report: Fox to Revive 24 as Limited Series
TV Line ^ | May 9, 2013 | Michael Ausiello

Fox is looking to restart the clock on 24.

The network is looking to bring back the Emmy-winning real-time thriller as a limited series event, Deadline reports.

No deals are in place in front of or behind the screen, but Kiefer Sutherland is said to be in early talks to reprise his role as Jack Bauer. Former 24 boss Howard Gordon, meanwhile, would likely oversee the revival, per Deadline.

News of a possible 24 rebirth comes just hours after Fox pulled the plug on Sutherland’s Touch. Thoughts? Does this sound like the best or worst idea ever?

Unless he has to do battle with extraterrestrials it can only go downhill from where it was.

Are they going to bring the Garafalo freak back? She single-handedly brought the series down the first time why not do it again?

And the season after that, Jack Bauer has to take on Lucifer himself, after the Arc-angel Michael shows himself to be a double-agent for the dark side.

Spoiler alert! (roll over to see): =Bauer wins by strangling Lucifer with his own tail.

Just one episode where he shoots a terrorist in the thigh for not telling him what he wants to hear is worth the ticket for me. Bring it on Jack. There can't be enough Jack Bauer. Ever.

Oh, he'll pull the trigger!

Hopefully, he'll rescue Renee and bring her back to life.

Ticked me off when the killed her.

Bah. Now you’ll get the series with Obama in a star role, saving Al Quaida from the Americans.

I stopped watching it when they killed Renee. The Lifetime channel writers already had made season 8 the worst season by far. 24 was well known for killing characters left and right, but there was always a real reason for doing it. Killing Renee was just a tool used to get Jack mad. I never watched another episode after that.

We loved that seriers. Jack is the anti-obama. I bet Jack could get all the facts on Benghazi out of everyone in the administration in 60 minutes.

When they introduced Renee and we saw her character development through the series, I thought for sure that they were going to keep 24 going, but with Renee taking over Jack's spot. Maybe with Jack being promoted to chief and providing occasional wet work.

That would have been a series to watch.

Killing Renee was just a tool used to get Jack mad.
In comics, that's referred to as "Women in Refrigerators Syndrome".

Women in Refrigerators Syndrome

Women in Refrigerators Syndrome describes the use of the death or injury of a female comic book character as a plot device in a story starring a male comic book character. It is also used to note the depowerment or elimination of a female comic book character within a comic book universe.

Cases of 'Women in Refrigerators Syndrome' deal with a gruesome injury or murder of a female character at the hands of a supervillain, usually as a motivating personal tragedy for a male superhero to whom the victim is connected. The death or injury of the female character then helps cement the hatred between the hero and the villain responsible.
