I was brought up to believe that censorship by any government or other entity is a restriction of individual freedom-it is up to parents alone to regulate what kids are exposed to-and adults can see/hear whatever they want.

I don’t think customer service is high on the list of priorities of most TV channels-they only notice when their viewer base shrinks-and any connection to some reality show person like a kardashian or whatever is reason enough to ignore the whole channel.

I’ve been a rock fan ever since I can remember, having parents who were rock fans-but I didn’t (and don’t) like the whiny, angst filled music from Seattle, Sweden, Denmark or wherever-the reason there is a high suicide rate in those low-sunshine places is, in large part because much of the population suffers from seasonal affective disorder-humans need rather a lot of sunshine/light.

In my opinion, if a kid (or adult) is modeling their life on music, they are in need of therapy, and something constructive to do-like getting a life. Blaming music or other media-like Tipper Gore famously did-for kids not having any sense/doing stupid things is a cop-out-parents need to be responsible for their kids-as in actually behave like parents. (As I step down from soapbox and exit stage right)...

i agree with you T5. I have often said that if you aren’t pouring morals/religion into your kids and are leaving a vacuum, the popular culture will do your job for you and fill them full of poison. They will believe that mindless sex starting at puberty is the norm and expected. They will be densensitized to violence, like that advocated in the song that AFTR is incensed about, and the value of human life is thought de minimus, because their parents haven’t spoken to them about the horrors of abortion, killing millions. Suicide is thought to be a viable option to solve every day problems like bullying, lost boyfriends/girlfriends, failing to get into whatever school they want etc. because they are not taught to value themselves because they don’t feel properly valued by their families, or they aren’t given the coping skills for problems we all faced in our own youth. There is so very much wrong in society today, and it stems from a lack of God-centered parenting.
On my way to my car last thursday, leaving work, i was in the elevator in the parking garage with a lady who said to me, did you have a good day at work today. i answered, it was ok, i am happy to have a job, etc. and she said yeah, that her days are difficult bc she works with juveniles, attempting to keep them out of jail etc. And i said i did not envy her, that it has to be a hard job and that it stemmed from parents failing to parent their children.

my next door neighbors, an alcoholic and a child physiologist, moved out and left their home where their eldest still lives...driving the entire neighborhood nuts. I think of them and the lousy job they did daily.

I made a call about a puppy today. DH is dragging his feet. Won’t even give me an answer. He wants to check out the breeder, then MAYBE we can go meet her. I am on pins and needles. Trying to be laid back.

If kids were that susceptible then all of the Smiths fans would have killed themselves long ago.

Preach it, sister-there was a compelling reason that my first husband and I paid for the cub to go to Catholic school, even in the grim, broke Carter years-we did not want our moral teachings undermined by what was even then a socialist, predatory public education system. If I were a mom of little ones now, I’d do the same, or home school come hell or high water.

“mindless sex starting at puberty is the norm”-I know I’ve said it is a great book before, but I’ll say it again-Ira Levin’s “This Perfect Day”. In the story, one of the ways the collective got/kept control of kids was to encourage (and drug) them into having that mindless sex-starting at puberty-age 12. It is truly a chilling story, but it does have a happy ending...

Thank you! I don’t see Hillary going quietly, though...

Too Drunk to F*** almost makes the Beatles Why Don’t We Do It in the Road seem almost innocent, doesn’t it?

I am further agitated because it is so difficult to lodge a complaint with Hallmark Channel. I never would have expected this from a “family friendly” corporation.

Hallmark Channel isn't "family friendly"; it is a male-bashing component, along with Lifetime, of the PMS Network.
