I tune in to the show once in a while, but it suffers badly in comparison to the books at this point in the narrative. The written series was quite absorbing through the 3rd book, which will apparently be covered by the TV show in it's third and fourth seasons. But the novels fell off sharply in quality after that, as it became clear that the author, George Martin, didn't know how to continue his story and increasingly seems more interested in working on other things, including scripts for the TV show.
It'll be interesting to see how the TV show turns out, since the written series will not conclude in at least a decade, if ever.

Mmm no, book 4 was good and book 5 was great.
