Perhaps the best answer to the question posed to Bernanke moments ago whether US unemployment is structural or cyclical comes courtesy of Microsoft, which announced earlier that it was set to hire "several thousand" workers. Sadly, the catch is that the hires will be in China.

Couple this with their XBox One fiasco of not allowing the play of used games on their console (without paying MS another fee) and you have the beginning of a Rage against the Masters. Microsoft is starting to rub a lot of people wrong.

Let me know if Microsoft has ever paid 35%. Their effective rate is pretty low, they are adept at tax avoidance.

Why do you think they keep money off shore?.
If the feds lowered taxes companies would return but tax and spend is the D.C. rule.

Why would they? This is a globalized world, they can shift their money to another country, their loyalty is not to this country, but to the shareholder. No matter how much we lower the tax rate, there will be another country with better incentives.

RE: No matter how much we lower the tax rate, there will be another country with better incentives.

SOLUTION: COMPETE WITH THAT COUNTRY FOR BETTER INCENTIVES.

At a 35% tax rate why keep money here when they can pay 18% in other places?.Tax rates are the main reason companies have moves off shore.
