Some of his friends said at his service that this better not be one of his practical jokes like the elaborate wrestling one.

Latka Gravis is alive?
Not roll-on-the-floor funny but an enduring character that so well fits the NY experience.

Back in the day I was a waiter at the famous Carnegie Deli in NYC. He was there one night with a party of 8 and just sat at the end of the table staring straight ahead through the entire meal. He did not eat or say a word to anyone all night. Very strange guy.

15 years or so ago I read a book that made the case that Elvis is alive. It had all sorts of reasons, facts, and tidbits... And it really was quite convincing.

That whole Andy Kaufman/Jerry Lawler thing was weird. That whole Andy Kaufman/[insert anything here] thing was weird.

The guy got up and lip synced the Mighty Mouse song on the hottest new show on TV. I’ll bet you he made a fortune out of pulling television’s chain.

Steve Allen, in a book about young comedians, made the comment that you could look into Andy Kaufman’s eyes and “not know who was driving.”

I dont care for either Kaufman or Carrey.Neither do I, but for what it was, I have to give Carrey credit for the job he did in the movie.
To: Perdogg
I think it would be the height of hilarity, if Kaufman really DID fake his death, and resurfaced after three decades.
“Hey everybody, it’s me, Andy Kaufman! It was all a joke!”
And the masses reply, “Andy Who?”

Here he comes to save the day.

That whole Andy Kaufman/Jerry Lawler thing was weird.
I remember watching 'Late Night' when Kaufmann and Lawler were on - Letterman seemed genuinely uncomfortable at the hostility between the two, apparently he wasn't in on the joke. And Kaufmann's last appearance on the 'Friday's TV show - Larry David looked sincerely pissed off.
