Was that the Whataburger in C.C.? I only went there as a child with parents, probably during the early and mid ‘60s (lived a little closer to the Island). Now, I’m on a place, where we saw 39 below zero one night this last winter. Funny, what growing up in southeast Tex. and later doing infantry-related Army stuff in southern climates can do to some of us (chase us to the high, dry cold).
My hometown is also Corpus Christi. In fact, I live here still. I would like to move somewhere nice and cold, though. I think we only had “winter” for about a week this year. Got down to around 50, felt really nice. Now it’s hot and humid again.
This was in Aransas Pass, in the 60’s.
My grandpa owned an ice house (real ice house, not beer joint) on the Island, so I spend tons of time there. It is still on of my favorite places.
There is no way in hell that I would live anywhere that the temp got that low. Good darn thing I did not marry a military man. ;-)
