>>The reason there are no used cars for sale is that dealers do not offer a decent trade-in for your old car.
>>OH!!! They sell them for big bucks, but they dont give you squat for your trade -in.
Exactly. Cars last a long time these days and when you bring your car in and the dealer acts like he’s doing you a favor for taking your trade, you reevaluate and decide to keep it for another year. After a couple more years, its paid off and then you get used to not making that payment and suddenly, your old car looks really good.
Until the A/C dies.
Got 178K miles on my 03 Avalanche. No intention of trading it in. Runs great. Also have a 2004 Silverado 2500 that’s entirely paid off. That one’s not going to traded in or sold either.

I live in South Texas, the only time I ever turn on the AC is to de-fog my windshield (and my Mech may turn it on to check it) If I wanted to be cold I would have moved to Alaska.
I am on my 3rd Diesel Truck ... only have 150k on it... I will never need to replace it (unless I wreck it) ... another vehicle for fun maybe.

I have not made a payment on my car for 7 years. My wife asked me when I was getting a new car, I told her when this one breaks down. Or the AC goes out.
I don't think I've had AC on but one or two of the vehicles I've had since 1963. I remember a an old Jeep Grand Wagoneer I had 12 years ago that had good air cooling. Crank open the wing vents all the way and drive real fast. I drove it all over the midwest and southeast that way.
