I just saw the season finale and they introduced John Hurt as The Doctor.

But, if you listened to the Smith Doctor just before it showed Hurt, he seems to say that the other [Hurt] is the dark side of him.
Dr: “He’s me. There’s only me here. That’s the point. ... I said he was me. I didn’t say was The Doctor. My name, my real name. That is not the point. The name I chose is ‘The Doctor.’ The name you chose is like a promise you make. He’s the one who broke the promise. He is my secret.”
Hurt: “What I did, I did without choice.”
Dr: “I know.”
Hurt: “In the name of peace and sanity.”
Dr: “But not in the name of The Doctor.”
