Chaining a dog inside a house/apartment unsupervised isn't responsible.
STUPID! Didn't your dog's trainer ever hear of a kennel?
Cynophobia, even selective cynophobia, is based in fear, not in reason or logic.
Be careful-the tyranny you justify to assuage your cynophobia is the same tyranny others will use to justify *your* breed of choice being gunned down while chained.
You are so right!!! Never ceases to amaze me how ridiculous some get here, demanding that dogs of a certain “type” (pit bull is NOT a breed, for those who haven’t clued in yet!), and cannot connect the dots between their attitudes and BSL legislation which usually encompasses an entire LIST of breeds to be banned. Yes, it makes soooo much sense to call for one type to be wiped out, doesn’t it? Every time I see those arguments justifying their deaths I have to remind myself that this is a conservative “less government” site. Or at least it’s supposed to be....
PETA is not an animal welfare organization, though they have tried to claim that mantle for some time. They hold a record on killing domestic animals when they get their hands on them. They feel they are “liberating” them from captivity and a potential bad owner in the future. Sick bunch. They want to eliminate the concept of domestic animals....
PLEASE tell me the idiots got what was coming to them for that!! PLEASE tell me those “officers” are now civilians....
"The term pit bull refers to certain breeds of dog namely, the American Pit Bull Terrier, the American Staffordshire Terrier, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, and any crosses amongst the three."
And enforcement of better methods for dealing with them on the part of the police. Accountability is what is needed.
Hence my point. It is NOT one single “breed” of dog, but comprises many breeds. You made my point beautifully.
How do you know the dog was “unsupervised”? The owner was in the kitchen area, and the dog was too, apparently. How do you get “unsupervised” from that??
No it is a type bred for fighting. The animal of choice for American dog fighters is the Pit Bull. Do you condone dog fighting?
You didn't read the article, did you?
Do you? What an inane question, but since you asked — not only do I NOT condone dog fighting, but I also don’t believe in punishing the animal for the sins of the human. Got it? Clear, now? And you?
I read it just fine. Nothing in there suggested the dog was “unsupervised”. He was tied up, not a threat and you are suggesting what to the contrary, exactly??
You appear to be implying (by your question) that the only reason to have one of the bully breeds (again, “pit bull” is a “type”) is for fighting. Surely you don’t really believe that!!
He possibly did but I wouldn’t have had money for a cage at the time. She was a big dog. She was tied. Was able to stand and change position. It worked in a week. She lived a long life.
Thank you for your insightful posts!! They bear repeating to those who can’t connect the dots....
So who was supervising the dog if no one was present in the apartment? A spirit? SHEESH!
So....dog is chained up and that constitutes the right for the cops to kill him according to your “logic” — ok. Got it. SHEESH yourself!
Not the only reason. Tell me there aren't better breeds/types of dogs for companionship, hunting, service, rescue, tracking, etc. Where besides fighting do the "bullies" excel?
WRONG!
