Sounds a little like Jim Reeves. Can’t go wrong there.

Eddie Dean did one of my favorite versions of one of my favorite songs, "Rainbow at Midnight" (1947), but unfortunately, it seems to be available only as a 78rpm disc. Here's Texas Jim Robertson's version of the tune, apparently inspired by a news story of a rare lunar rainbow.

I love old country western music. The best place I found to listen to this kind of music is: bostonpete.com. The site has different kinds of music but the old western music is my favorite.

I like the conservative Republican version of "Cool Water." This is how the refrain goes:
Democrats are hacks.
They will always show their backs.
They're too chicken to attack
And they'll never counteract Goldwater.
Man, can't you see, since '33
This tax-and-spending spree's
Been killing off both me and you.

In the singing department, Eddie Dean was definately an above-par singing cowboy. But his cheapie b-western films, produced by PRC Pictures in the mid-1940s, were pretty weak examples of the genre. Dean was eventually replaced at PRC by Lash LaRue.

Thanks for this posting, Virg.

I am nuts about Bob Wills and that era of country music, especially Texas swing. I’m going to go looking Eddie Dean on your recommendation.

Thanks. I appreciate the link.

Just as soon as I can get my speakers re-attached and working, I’ll listen in. I’m a fan of western music, acquired while watching all those cowboy movies back in the late 1940s.

Again, thanks.

Thanks for that info in post 10. I was not aware of that transition.

My sister and I (two years difference) went to see all the Lash Larue movies.
