Officials in the southern province of Jazan have demolished horse sculptures on a roundabout after Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Asheikh denounced them as "sinful" and against the tenets of Islam, local online news websites said.

Another news website, sabq.org, said the grand mufti earlier wrote the governor of Jazan demanding that “the sculptures be removed because they are a great sin and are prohibited under sharia (Islamic law).”
