My wife wants to sign up my grandson for the ABC Disney website.
Does anyone have any experience with this toddler Learning website?
The website says it was developed by “Learning Professionals and Teachers”
Such claims do not necessary inspire my confidence.
Judging by the programming on their TV channels I
suspect they’ll be cramming a lot of gay propaganda
at the young tykes.
I looked into ABCMouse but the moment I saw the term “sight words” in the reading section I left immediately.
Take a look yourself and decide.
I found it to be just simple memory games and coloring pages of animals a fruit.
That is one of the things I worry about.
That and the environmentalist propaganda that Disney has become famous for.
I downloaded the free app on my ipad for my granddaughter and it has been a waste in my opinion.
I did see the Sight Word reference but I did see this as well.
Doesn’t it hold her attention or is she not learning anything?
Disney is America’s Ministry of Culture. Their goal is to make the most money by spreading the cliches of modern society, ie) in the most politically correct way. Their and your goals for your children may not always coincide.
Teenage girls call Disney “The Disney Slut Factory”
Look at how a career starting as a kid working for Disney turned out for Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Miley Cyrus. Contrast this with Annette Funicello two generations ago.
Disney today is not what it was.
I think the answer depends on whether you want it to be a babysitter or a learning experience with adult interaction. “Toddler” implies a pretty young kid, but at an age where a child is able to reason and question things, even if there is propagang, it could provide teachable moments.
We have to teach critical and integrated thinking skills, not mindless dogma.
You are correct. I have 2 teenage girls.
I enjoyed Disney as a child in late 50's and early 60's.
Then I got stoned and went away somewhere, and when I came back ... it was no longer the Fantasyland I remembered.
Did I grow up or did Disney go weird?
IMO .. Disney went weird when Huey, Dewey and Louie started talking political correctness.
Same thing with Sesame Street ... pre-school socialism

I was watching the Disney channels showing of “Finding Nemo” during which they showed a commercial with two women in bed and the narrator voiceover saying “it depends on how you define family”.
It is a very gay organization. One Disney president thought it had 40% homosexual employees.
Does your wife know about this and does she care (most women don’t).

My wife is pretty conservative but she does love Disney.
My grandkids learned how to use the computer at this site. Some schools also use this site.

Walt died. His son retired and died. The commercial guys with no goals except to make money took over.
Don’t get me wrong making money is important but the pure worshipers of mammon lose sight of the fact that there are more than enough people out there that want quality family entertainment to make huge profits.
