Phil back to even - that’s a good recovery!

Well, they have the equipment to handle it. They just aren’t doing it.

Phil just hit it in the creek again. Sheesh.

But they make it up with the chip-n-putt 13th. They also have 5 sub 400 yd par 4s. These guys all can handle long par 4s. Doesn’t Augusta have some very long par 4s?

I heard yesterday that the field stroke average on 18 this week was 4.7. To me, that's a pretty clear indicator that it should really be a par 5.

When Ben Hogan played his famous 1-iron 2nd shot at 18 back in 1950, the hole measured 458 yards, tough and difficult, but fair.

Well, they were also playing with wound balls and persimmon woods. Huge difference, no?

Distance means nothing to these guys. The only way to keep scoring high is to keep the fairways narrow, the rough high, pin placements tough, and greens lightning fast.

Sure. I just don’t know that it’s a 70 yard difference.

I hear you but I think Mickelson hit a 270 yard fairway wood there yesterday.

A 458-yd par 4 in 1950 is about the same as 530-yd par 4 today. I just enjoy that it is under 7000 yards and the players have to think their way around the course rather than just bomb it down a wide fairway with a wedge to the green.

Jason Day is creeping up the leaderboard.

You bet, a bloodbath. Even Tiger and Rory are mediocre at best. It’s a wonder Phil has hung in this long, but his reputation holds: If anyone can lose a tournament on the last day, it’s Phil.

Ernie! God I’d love to see him post and back into this thing.

Ernie is out of holes, best he can do is plus3. But who knows - maybe that would hold up.

Two 67s have been posted so it is possible to score today.

Ernie is in at plus-5. I don’t think that’s going to hold up.
