Back when Mel Gibson was playing William Wallace, we refered to the movie as the Woad Warrior, referencing his previous several post apocaliptic runs as “The Road Warrior”

The Celts were long considered a ... violent society. But new findings from a 2,600-year-old grave in Germany suggest the ancient people were much more sophisticated than previously thought.

As if a society cannot be both violent and sophisticated.

Romans, Aztecs, medieval Japanese. Heck, medieval and modern Europeans.

With the ultimate example supported by Godwin's Law.

Your post to which I was responding said:

Celtic women rode into battle with along side their men.....bare breasted and in full body paint

&&&
Even if Boudica — and her daughters went into battle — that was most certainly the exception and not a common occurrence.

And, if a woman did ride into battle, it would not make any sense for her to be topless except to make a comic book more interesting to some.

Can you please direct me to a good source book? I am always willing to be educated and quite willing to admit that I am wrong.
