Natura Press Release:
Natura Pet Issues Voluntary Recall of Specialized Dry Pet Foods Due to Possible Health Risk
FREMONT, NEBRASKA, June 18, 2013
Natura Pet Products is voluntarily recalling specific lots of dry pet food because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. Salmonella can affect animals eating the products and there is risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products.
Healthy people infected with Salmonella should monitor themselves for some or all of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. Rarely, Salmonella can result in more serious ailments, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms. Consumers exhibiting these signs after having contact with this product should contact their healthcare providers.
Pets with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or humans. If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian.
These products were packaged in a single production facility. During routine FDA testing, a single lot tested positive for the presence of Salmonella. There have been no reports of pet or human illness associated with this product. In an abundance of caution, Natura is voluntarily recalling all products with expiration dates prior to June 10, 2014.
The affected products are sold in bags through veterinary clinics, select pet specialty retailers, and online in the United States and Canada. No canned wet food is affected by this announcement.

Doggie ping, please!
So I guess it is true what they say about Karma.
Seriously folks, keep those pets safe!!!
Note that all the products in this line have Politically Correct, Gaia-Loving, New Age-y kind of names.
Wouldn’t feed it to a DOG.
We had to take our dog to the emergency vet this weekend with these symptoms. I didn’t see her brand of food on the list.
Thank you very much for the heads up!
Blessings to you!
Younger dogs should eat a mixture of hard kibble, otherwise they might lose their teeth at an early age.
Oh, shoot. No dinner for Bill Maher, Whoopi Goldberg, Barbara Walters OR Barbra Streisand tonight.
I’m so sorry. Were they able to help her? What brand of dog food was she eating?
And a bit off-topic—I think emergency vet offices are great. We’ve had to use them twice when our dogs get violently ill very quickly, and I’m amazed how steadily busy they are at 2:00 in the morning.
My dog gets Life’s Abundance + dino-vite. Has all his life. He’s a good boy. Getting up there. Sometimes he slips on the tile floor. Poor thing.
What are cats? Chopped liver?
This is for all these brands of PET food.
I’ve often wondered why organic products have so many recalls.
Our little guys used to be on Evo and Innova but not anymore. Thanks for letting us know about this recall
“What are cats? Chopped liver? “
You asking me or my dog?
Jeeze...you can’t trust anyone any more.
Thanks for the head’s up.
Got just the thing for you. Check out Power Paws by Woodrow Wear.
I bought several pair for my dog, but she was sick with liver disease and I just didn't have the heart to keep after her constantly until she got used to wearing them.
LOL.
Used to buy Evo for my cat a few years ago, but make him puke. Maybe I got a bad batch?
