UNION CITY (CBS SF) — A six-year old boy was mauled to death by a pit bull at a home in Union City Monday morning, according to Union City police.
Fire crews and an ambulance were called to an address on Elizabeth Way about 11 a.m. Monday morning.
The victim, identified as Dixon resident Nephi Selu, was taken to Stanford Hospital where neighbors of the family say the boy died.
Police said the boy was visiting relatives and had been playing with the dog in the backyard when the dog attacked him, biting him on the top of his head. The boy may have tried to climb onto the animal’s back, according to police.
The dog was taken to the Tri-City Animal Shelter in Fremont and will be held for a 10-day quarantine, police said.
The dog’s owner was distraught but was cooperating with the investigation, police said. The owner told police that the dog has never bitten anyone before.

How many instances like these must occur before people wise up and separate those damned pit bulls from their children??

Yeah, but you know with those 10 days there will be rallies to save the damned dog.
Appaarently if pit bulls are bred properly this **** doesn’t happen, but it’s probably something like 1% of them being bred properly any more. They need to put the entire breed down.
I would drop some steaks laced with hemlock into his pen.

I agree. It seems like once a week someone is getting mauled to death by one or more of these damn dogs. The owners also need to go to jail for a long, long time.
The breed should be made extinct.

There is a point in every pit bulls life where that is true.
And then there is a point where it all changes.
The damned things are dangerous. They should not be around kids and vice-versa.

I said the same thing in another thread and was roundly criticized for it. I stand by your sentiment.
what really reduces the chances greatly is getting the dogs fixed when they hit sexual maturity. applying common sense with any dog, especially breeds wth obvious, known abilities to snap unpredictably, it critical.
