Like I said, the last one (which my same friend helped me put in) lasted 17 years.
So twice in 17 years is just about right. Any more than that, and hire a professional!
I like to post threads about real-world type stuff. And I very much encourage people to try to be brave and maybe do things themselves. Paying careful attention, of course, to the advice of experts.

I also put a water warning device where I would be alerted if water got to it.
