It certainly was not afraid of humans, or it would have been miles away from the house.
Bears will aggressively guard their toilet paper.
“It’s not altogether uncommon for dogs to set us up by harassing a bear and then leaving the scene and the bears then come after the human, which is way easier to catch,” she said.

Didn’t I see this exact quote in another bear attack article earlier today?
This is why a person should only let coonhounds outside if bears are known to be around. At least then they’ll just tree the thing, and you don’t worry about being attacked. They’ll also protect you from the stuff as well.
semi-joking aside, this lady sure is lucky. If she knew about bears on the property, she should of been taking proper precautions (ie winchester defender).
Maybe she gave them the wrong type??!!
Some electric fence tape and a superzap 3000 charger would do the trick a lot better.
If that works for you, that’s fantastic, I must stick with what I know though heh, for such are the laws of life.
Lucky for the officer it wasn’t a dog or he’d be crucified.
Never get between a mother bear and her cubs.
I’ve told my kids that there’s no more dangerous bear to see than a baby bear.
Ive told my kids that theres no more dangerous bear to see than a baby bear.
Exactly. Once I saw a cub and immediately jumped in the pick up. The mother ran by about a second after I closed the door.
So true.
My brother has three of them. He's seriously thinking about getting a pitching machine because he and his little boy, 4, sometimes can't keep up with them.
Yeah, you give a bear Super Soft instead of Super Strong, and those claws go through the paper, she’s coming after you.
In Northern Wisconsin the bears are invading human territory. There were very few bears in the area only forty-five years ago, when I was growing up. Bears are invading human territory, and their population is rapidly expanding.
Now, you could say that there were no humans in the area 15,000 years ago, and you would be pretty much right. Of course, there were no bears either, as the area was covered by glaciers.
Speaking of throwing balls for dogs, my half-lab nearly ruined my arm. I literally bought an elbow guard/brace, to try to reduce the strain.
Then my sister gave me a ‘ball chucker’. Made all the difference in the world. I have a huge yard, yet despite my best efforts I’ve chucked the ball over the six-ft fence several times. When it lands it the yard [1.33 acres), it gives my dog a total workout. Chuckers aren’t that expensive, & I don’t know what I’d do w’out one.
Hong Kong has some of the lowest postage rates in the world. When I lived in Japan, there were a lot of direct mail advertisers who printed and shipped from Hong Kong.
