[Vanity] NBA Finals Game 7 - Spurs vs. Heat

Game Seven.

In the realm of sport ($1 to RINO Romney), those are two stirring words.

And in just a few hours, the San Antonio Spurs have a shot at redemption after frittering away what should have been a slam dunk for a fifth NBA title and a deserved crowning of a dynasty.

Game six is still fresh in my mind. Not only Tuesday's collapse when the Spurs were up by 5 with 20 seconds left. Yet another game six is still painful for this Texan. That of course was the 107th World Series when the Rangers were two strikes away -- TWICE -- from claiming the prize. Similarly, San Antonio was just two free throws away -- TWICE -- from beating the Heat on their own floor.

It seemed inevitable. Miami fans were streaming for the exits for what appeared to be a fait accompli. Even the Larry O'Brien trophy was being wheeled down the hall for the postgame ceremony and the certain Spurs celebration.

But, like 2011, 2013 a game six was the dagger for two Texas teams.

Can the Spurs bounce back? The series has been a sequence of alternating win-lose. And the arrow now points in San Antonio's direction. But after the crushing defeat of just two days ago, it will be a miracle to overcome the home floor advantage and the momentum now clearly on Miami's side.

So who wins? Lebron and the Heat in a romp.

But what are they “witnessing”? And why is the “convenient” team always the one that wins? Nicks get Ewing, Cavs get LeBron, Cavs get first pick again the year LeBron leaves, Hornets get Davis right after being sold by the league (and having a big trade blocked). Always the team the league would like to win the lottery does.

They are witnessing the drawing. One would think they would yell bloody murder if they thought their team was getting the shaft.

But again, what are they actually seeing? Stuff being put in a hopper, and one being taken out. Do they get to examine everything going into the hopper? The hopper itself? Remember the bent card for Ewing’s draft, was that an accident or a rig? Why didn’t any of the witnesses yell bloody murder? And there have been team presidents complaining about lottery results in the past.

The results could be a coincidence, that’s the fun part about random events they actually can break the “desired” way, but there sure are a lot of these highly convenient coincidences.

Spurs better team. Could give a damn less whether they “won” the series or not.
