Sopranos' star James Gandolfini guzzled at least eight drinks during his final meal: source

“Sopranos” star James Gandolfini, who struggled with booze addiction in his final weeks, scarfed down a decadent final meal that included at least eight alcoholic drinks, The Post has learned.

Gandolfini guzzled four shots of rum, two pina coladas, and two beers at dinner with his son — while he chowed down on two orders of fried king prawns and a “large portion” of foie gras, a hotel source in Rome said.

The Emmy Award winner had attended several Alcoholics Anonymous meetings on Perry Street in the West Village, but people who saw him there “didn’t think that he was serious about getting sober,” said a source familiar with the matter.

Saw a clip of him on Inside the Actor’s Studio.
Host asks him, “When you appear at the Pearly Gates, what would you like to hear God say?”
JG thinks for a moment and says, “Take over for a while, I’ll be right back.”

Vince Flynn dies and gets less attention than this guy? Sopranos? Who cares (not about him dying, but about the pop culture crap we rail against)...sorry, had to vent. Flame on.

No flames from me. I liked the Sopranos, but the reverence for the show must have been Northeast-centric...kind of like their idolization of Springsteen.

Reminds me of a business trip to Chicago 20+ years ago. Several of us went to a disco that played music videos. I was singing along to a couple of ZZ Top vids (they were good back then), and I was asked "wow, how do you know those songs?" I simply replied, ZZ Top is to Texas as Springsteen is to New Yorkers.

Oh, if only Stevie Ray Vaughn had a video...

Of course, Springsteen never meant anything to me.

His face looked bloated and eyes were puffy in the photo taken the day before he died.

I wonder if anyone mentioned that his color was not good.

I will never forget seeing my husbands uncle a few days before he died of a heart attack in his early 50’s. He was so pale he almost had a blue tint to his face. I knew he was a sick man even tho’ no one had mentioned anything.

I used to work for a life insurance company. The old underwriter’s eye sees “bad risk” in those pictures.

No you are not alone. I have been shying away from posting on this, but here goes... It was easy to get sucked into the Soprano's. The 1st few seasons were funny, and then it got dark, real dark., I couldn't stand it anymore, even with it's brilliant acting and it's cold stark twisted beauty. But those who's families came from "The Boot" struggle with the stereo types. They are real as is the Mob, and many struggle to prove themselves because of the wise guy sterotypes. Pelosi and Ferraro were not roll models for Americans of Italian decent, James Gandolfini perhaps, Tony Soprano no. A real role model, Mario Andretti and all his kids as they work their Arse's off to be the best they can be and or their teams. What is even weirder is the current Administration and it's Chicago ways have more in common with La Costra Nostra than our Founding Founders. The Irony, Tony Sporano passes and the Chicago way goes on and on, what bizarre times we live in...

I’ve never seen the Sopranos, but this is America today, when even grown man news is dominated by Hollywood celebrities.

Sixty years ago, men had news and information sources that they could use without being emerged in celebrity gossip and information.

Today dad, and his teeny bopper daughter and his Hollywood loving wife all share very similar information.

My rule is I dont eat while Im drinking, or vice versa . .

Good rule, after four shots of rum, two pina coladas, and two beers, why waste money on a fine meal that you can barely taste, just eat a bologna sandwich and save the dining budget for a non-drinking day.

Dad had a friend that drank at least a case a day every day for his adult life. He went to the hospital for something minor and died under anesthesia. His heart failed.

My daughter's an EMT and went on a call to a guy who had drunk a case of beer, then called 911 saying he was having chest pains. When they got to his apartment, he was having trouble remembering his birthdate and his name, but as they were helping him into the guerney, he turned to my daughter and said "but I DO like the white women!"...

NOTE: In my state, the law requires that female EMTs be accompanied by a male...

Does anything good come from Sicily? Oranges...

If you watched The Godfather movies, the presence of an orange always foreshadowed something bad happening.
