A might bit careless there. Which phrase to use depends on what you mean. The problem is that people use them interchangeably, when they are two totally different concepts.

Here's a real grammar brain twister. ROUTE . Pronounced two different ways for no particular reason, but always spelled the same.

Just when I thought I was out of this thread, you pull me back in...

Does anyone get kicks on "Raut 66"? When setting up a network, does anyone configure a "root" (overloaded meaning of "root" aside) to the gateway IP address?

The pronunciation of “route” is largely regional as with other words having differing pronunciations.
