Texas and California have almost the same percentage of hispanic population, yet California votes Dem and Texas votes Rep.
Both are big states.
California is an economic disaster, Texas is booming.
Republicans should be focused on economic policy rather than demographics.

That is an interesting conundrum but I do not agree with your analysis.
As recently as the 90's CA was fairly evenly split between Rats and Pubbies. Then the Rats passed motor voter in the mid-90's.
The difference is that the Rats were able to use it to register illegals in CA and less successful in TX.
The Rats are trying to change that and they are pouring money into registering illegals in Texas.
It is no coincidence that two of the four Pubbies in the House amnesty gang John Carter (R-Texas), Sam Johnson (R-Texas) are from Texas.

Ease Texas whites are conservative by and large unlike California. The Democrats big goal is to overwhelm that fact with Mexicans and flip that state Blue, forever, just like what appended in Cali.
