Word For The Day, Monday, 6/24/13
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
panegyric; noun
1. a lofty oration or writing in praise of a person or thing; eulogy. 2. formal or elaborate praise
Etymology: 1603, "eulogy, laudation," from Fr. panégyrique (1512), from L. panegyricus "public eulogy," originally an adj., from Gk. panegyrikos (logos) "(a speech) given in a public assembly," from panegyris "public assembly in honor of a god," from pan- "all" (q.v.) + agyris
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....
Here is my example with WFTD.
Most who had bestowed panegryrics on Rubio have since retracted them.

No pushing at the door please!
good morning.
What’s up, my dear?
panegyric - what passes for mainstream news about Obama...
Obama’s frequent panegyrics are all about himself because he truly believes that he “is the one wee’ve been waiting for”.
Chris Matthews had a famed panegyric
But his praise only gave me an earache
Obama made his leg tingle
And Chrissy ain’t even single
A true socialist can turn a lib queer-ic
Panegyric ...
and prone to gimble in the wabe.

back from Williamsburg, where we had a very nice weekend. Heading to Houston to visit my bro and his family, with xsbaby, this weekend. Lots of work to get done in between : )
or were you asking if i’d added whats up to the ping list? ; )
true, and disgusting. A+++
Say, the WFTD “pun potential” has been pretty thin of late... just sayin’.
It is very often disappointing to see movies based on fave books, though i have not read that one. A+++
i will keep that in mind, next monday, when it’s my turn again ; )
he does indeed. A+++
He’s still aboard the obams bus isn’t he? he wobbled a few times with one or two of the scandals, but not enough to disembark! A++++
A+++
I had not read the book. I agree it was an enjoyable movie. I say that even though I like my zombies slow and plodding, not like these fast ones. I mean if you are dead, you think you’d go slower.
