panegyric; noun

1. a lofty oration or writing in praise of a person or thing; eulogy. 2. formal or elaborate praise

Etymology: 1603, "eulogy, laudation," from Fr. panégyrique (1512), from L. panegyricus "public eulogy," originally an adj., from Gk. panegyrikos (logos) "(a speech) given in a public assembly," from panegyris "public assembly in honor of a god," from pan- "all" (q.v.) + agyris

Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

Your W/H "press conference" by that squealing media pig Carney is nothing more than a panegyric to promote his Gay Prince, usually involving an angry, epic rant against Conservatives… Most recently, these pep talks are designed to quell any panic greying members of the Press Corpse are experiencing over many the Federal agency ripping the fabric of our personal privacy by their bald-face prying into our daily lives.

Hey y’all! Busy day here, going to the doc. Saw some Eurotrash in the hotel lobby at breakfast, wearing a tee that said F it, let’s drink.

I think the Jagrmeister would write a panegyric about himself. It is the world's coolest playoff beard though.

for the first time probably since the election, i watched Hannity on Friday PM, and he had on the black conservatives. it was a great show. Those people need far more exposure and blacks need to see and hear their point of view.
I had very distressing news this AM. One of the black clericals that i know and love, a single mother of one child— well that child is now pregnant. She’s 19 and graduated HS, but got a job waitressing instead of pursuing higher education. Now this. I found it out from my black paralegal. She and i discussed the very sad state of illegitimacy in the black community. it is beyond depressing to me. I was so very sorry to hear this about the clerical that i have known for 25+ yrs. I know the child will be loved and raised by the woman’s daughter, her [the grandmother of the unborn baby] and her own mother. This is not a family of single mothers, Norma herself is from an intact family, but her dad died several years back. Norma was married and divorced from one man, and subsequently got pregnant by this child’s father. He would not marry her, but he and his family have been a constant and supportive presence in this girl’s life. This young lady did not need to look for a daddy figure. Just so sad.

I don’t have shirts with profanity on them. Other than my Obama one big ass mistake one. But that’s implied with a donkey symbol, not spelled out.

Panegyric is just a fancy term for twisted bread. Like fancy breadsticks.

Say a prayer for us, we’re about to embark on a convoy with the 56 t-bird halfway across the state. I’ll be driving here to Breezewood. It’s a black car with no ac and we have the hard top on. Cause this is a permnent move and it needs to go along.

The old saying is the best thing parents can do for a child is love each other.

Glad you enjoyed the trip!

I don’t understand the appeal of books/movies about vampires, werewolves-and especially zombies-maybe it is just me, but I prefer scifi to fantasy when I’m in the mood for the unreal-and only then if it is halfway scientifically feasible. Yeah, I know-I’m boring...

It appears the bloom is off
Of Obama’s overrated rose
As driveby media digs for
Yet more panegyric prose

Give it up, we’ve heard it
Is what many are now saying-
All but the koolaid addicts
Are sick of Carney’s braying

This is 40-year deja vu
The writing is on the wall-
Another narcissist to show
How mobbed-up emperors fall...

I turned on the TV for some news, and there was one of the prosecutors in the Zimmerman case saying something like “as the sound and smell of that gunshot rose in the wet night...blah, blah-from his 16th year-profiled, blah”-if the guy is trying to write poetic prose, it is pretty awful-doesn’t grab my sympathy at all...

And wasn’t Martin 17-not 15, as the “days from his 16th year” suggest?

excellent! A++++ and did you see where the one who REFUSES to lay down for the dirtnap —carter— is saying that the Catholic Church refusal to ordain women is a human rights violation??

i see nothing but race riots coming out of that trial. the defense atty apparently made some ill-considered joke in his opening statement and the prosecutor began his with a quote of some profanity from Zimmerman. i see no good outcome there.

There should be race riots already.on the Statehouse lawn.

This case should never have gone to trial.

The fact that Zimmerman, crossed the pathway, went out to the street, then doubled back to his truck (thereby leaving Martin free and clear) is the only salient fact in the case.

We had some trouble with starting, so we intend to just keep it running. Even when we have to put gas in it. Mileage is not so great in this thing.

Thank you!

I always thought Carter was pretty rabidly anti-Catholic-he even seemed jealous of the respect the Pope had when he-Carter-was pres, and thought that automatically endowed him with that level of respect...

I don’t envy you-when I had that old Blazer, I had to gas it up a couple of times while running-I was towing the contractor’s 12 ft trailer and the battery was low-it was mot fun at all...
