When I visit Texas, I always try to eat at least one meal at a Taco Cabana. I don't believe any exist west of the Rio Grande.

If you're ever in San Antonio, the original Taco Cabana location is still around. Their founder died awhile back.

I just read the Wikipedia pages for "Arco" and "Sinclair". they're fascinating tales of mergers, acquisitions, and spinoffs ... with BP and Fedzilla antitrust regulators thrown in for good measure.

I won't even attempt to summarize.

Yeah, I read it to . . . or at least the parts I could understand.

I also went to the Gulf and Texaco articles. Makes my head spin.

Sure, name me a famous brand of PA coal.

Are we not getting what this exercise was? To find the most famous brand for each state, that started in that state and still exists there.

Oh, I get it. But I don’t think of Hershey when I think of PA. I think of Hershey when I think of Hershey, PA. When I think of PA, I think of the Liberty Bell, Constitution Hall, the coal industry, the Molly Maguires and the Pinkertons, the oil industry, and John D. Rockefeller. Also Gettysburg and Abraham Lincoln.

My chocolate muses are limited to the city of Hershey only, not the whole state.

BOA does have a presence through Wells Fargo, which they also acquired

I think you are talking about Merrill Lynch, which was dumped on BofA in 2008. I'm sure I would have heard about a BofA/Wells merger!

I’ve never seen a Whataburger outside of Texas.

We have them here in NM, and I remember eating there when I was stationed in Tucson, AZ 20 years ago.

Lexmark for KY is a little silly - they recently laid off scores of people.

KY’s famous for bourbon, tobacco and horses. Not crappy printers.
