The one with the green domes is the church of St. Sophia in Kiev, built for Prince Yaroslav by Byzantine craftsmen in 1099. It is very beautiful inside as well as out.
The Ukrainians have left some of the parging off of the exterior walls to reveal the ancient Byzantine brick which is different from what we use today.

Coming from Polish ancestry, what I find most beautiful about Russians and Eastern Europeans, is the old peasant faith. I would describe my father's faith in that way. He didn't learn it from a book, but it was in his heart.
