You’ll get no argument from my crippled ass. If I don’t want help its no reason to be rude when a simple “No thank you” will suffice.
I don’t even use handicapped parking because its too easy to get lazy and there are people in far worse shape than me.
That is all I ask for. I work with a parapelegic fellow. He’s knowledgeable, polite and courteous. He doesn’t want help but he is not rude at all about it. He just says “no thanks” and does his thing.
Having recently become handicapped, I agree with you.
When someone offers me a hand, I thank them warmly, even if I just touch that hand.
There are too many surly people in the world.
