You must be much younger than me (I'm as old as dirt)

They are called curb feelers. I grew up in the 50's and 60's. They were used commonly attached to the passenger side front wheel well so that if you got to close to a curb when parallel parking (you know what that is? With malls, it is a dying art), they would scrape against the curb and make a noise letting you know you were close enough.
