It is certainly true that "Automation Complacency" is setting in.

For example, take the GPS navigator out of the car of anybody who is under 30 and watch the results as they attempt to get around. It will be comical.

There was a nice little joke in Flight a while back on this topic:
In a few years time there will be two occupants of the cockpit - a pilot and a dog. The pilot is there to feed the dog; the dog is there to bite the pilot if he tries to touch anything.
