In New Orleans the “people in charge” left 100 buses sit unused and then flooded,rather than using those buses to move out thousands of people.Those authorities illegally confiscated guns from people protecting their non-flooded homes.Other police abandoned their duty and fled in stolen vehicles with looted merchandise.Not to mention that evacuation of the areas most likely to be flooded should have begun much sooner.
The authorities chose not to prosecute medical workers who euthanized old and sick who should have been moved from nursing homes days earlier.
That is how political hacks and union thugs handle an emergency.
Nevertheless,people with pets or sick or infirm relatives really ought to have plans and means in hand to move early in an emergency.Depending on the government to save you from everything is foolish.
Of course we could just have the police shoot all the dogs ,stomp the cats,and wring the necks of the birds.Along with shooting anyone who wants to retain a gun to protect themselves as is our Constitutionally-recognized God-given right of self-defense.

One more thing,when you think you’re going to smack down the person in front who grabbed a bag,YOU just might get your butt set down.Assaulting fellow travelers during an emergency is vile and despicable.Crawl back under your rock.
Bottom line...you needn't worry.If I'm in charge of a rescue boat in the next Katrina-like situation I'll let every damn pet in the State of Louisiana into my boat before I'll let you...*or* your grandmother...into the boat. That should make you,an irrational "animal lover",feel at least a *bit* better.

And if you’ll keep your promise to rescue all the pets at merely the “cost” of leaving me to look after my own safety I’d consider that a fine thing.
It's a deal...but only if you agree to allow me to film,as I pass by in my rescue boat,the flood waters having reached your nose...and was continuing to rise.I'll make sure to play that video,over and over,to your four legged friends after they've attended your funeral.

I'll take that to mean "no,I'm allowed into the boat but the only other creatures allowed in are pets".
Are you sure you belong here? You might enjoy hanging out with the DUmpster Kids more.They,too,believe that pets are of equal worth...in every way...to humans.
You SHOULD take it to mean:
“no,I didn’t wait around for you and your boat;I already left when it became evident what was going to happen,OR that I have my own boat.”

I’m fine on FR,thank you.
But I can barely abide people who use conservatism as a cloak for cruelty.
Also I am one who believes in conservation as in,the good farmer is the one who grows his crops in such a way as to maximize the yield without poisoning or eroding the soil.He leaves to future generations land as good or better than he found.The same principle also applied to other business endeavors.
Someone whose only goal is short-term return to stockholders may be considered conservative by others but not me.The story of the goose and golden eggs just doesn’t seem to be plain enough for some.
I work for what I have and resent the government taking my money and giving it to lazy people here and evil ones abroad.
I resent the government wanting my gun while it turns tens of thousands of murderers loose on “parole” as though a criminal’s word meant something.
I resent the press refusing to scrutinize obama with the fervor they spend on conservative Republicans.
And my response to “lead,follow, or get out of the way” ?
